Ingó is an excellent, extremely skillful player, but when he came to me first in 2008 he was somewhat below optimal bodyweight for his height and sport.
We fixed that by making him gain 8 kg within 12 weeks, concomitantly increasing strength-levels and explosiveness.
2009/2010 saw a further improvement in that area, only not enough: watching Ingó play in the pre-season I immediately noticed something was amiss.
Being on a especially individualized program designed to get him up to optimal bodyweight asap, he by all means and rights should have been much bigger!
Now into some detective-work:
Ingó is a true athlete, so I had no doubt he was always doing all the work required.
How about the quality of this work though? Did he maybe make some mistakes in his training?
And the diet?
Or maybe the Supplements?
We would find out…
Supervising his sessions, I noticed some problems with tempo and form. After adjusting that, the exercises immediately had a greater impact, producing the expected results.
The main problem was though, as it turned out, in his diet and supplement-regimen.
When these three important factors where properly addressed, he went up another 3-4 kg in a matter of weeks.
A solid gain of 11kg in Functional Hypertrophy and greatly improved Strength- and Power-Levels will serve this promising player well in a anticipated top-profile international career.
