To achieve Top-Levels of Athletic Potential, the Professional Approach is inherently Holistic:
1.Training
2.Nutrition
3.Supplementation
4.Treatment
5.Prehab/Rehab
Nutrition:
Paracelsus said it best:
„Let your food be your medicine, let your medicine be your food“
Nutritional expertise is part of the whole package.
Supplementation:
I think the question if I‘m Pro-Supplements can be answered with an un-equivocal Yes.
To qualify that statement:
The right Supplements, at the right times, and in the right amounts, can make a big difference.
I only Coach Natural Athletes, and as such, you need all the help you can get. So much for Performance.
As far as General Health(and population)it is my opinion that most of your Macro AND Micro-Nutrients(ie.:Vitamins and Minerals for instance) should definitely come from Real Food, preferably a Organic, Non-processed(or as little processed as possible) Whole-Food Diet/Nutrition.
And here‘s the BUT:
It seems to me that, for one reason or another, our environment is far less than perfect in providing/supporting optimal Living-Conditions, including Foods.
It would be great if we could just, say, pick the next best fruit from some tree and automatically have all the Nutrients we will ever need.
Unfortunately, that‘s not so and we need to work at our Diet to achieve the best possible health.
Definitely, a really healthy diet is the basis to it all, but sometimes we should add something to our general nutrition to optimize things; for instance prevent, or even cure, certain conditions.
That‘s where Supplements come in.
